AAFDA AGM Reappoints Chairman and Board, Reinforces Strategic Direction for a Vital Industry
The Association of Agricultural Field Days of Australasia (AAFDA) is pleased to announce the reappointment of Bruce Wright as Chairman, along with the unanimous return of the full Board, following the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM).
This endorsement reflects strong confidence in the continued leadership and strategic direction provided by Bruce and the Board. Their commitment has been instrumental in strengthening AAFDA’s governance, advocacy, and long-term strategic frameworks—ensuring the resilience, relevance, and growth of agricultural field day events across Australasia.
Agricultural field days are not merely industry gatherings—they are distinctive, large-scale connectors of people, ideas, and commerce. Representing 35 major events across Australia and 6 in New Zealand, AAFDA field days:
- Attract over 1 million visitors annually
- Engage with more than 20,000 agribusinesses and suppliers
- Generate in excess of $2 billion in trade activity
- Deliver over $100 million in direct annual economic benefit to regional communities
Field days are uniquely placed within the agricultural landscape. Unlike any other forum, they provide a hands-on, face-to-face environment where farmers, suppliers, innovators, researchers, and rural communities come together. This creates a rare opportunity to build trust, exchange knowledge, showcase cutting-edge machinery and AgTech, and foster long-term relationships that fuel rural economies.
As rural industries face the combined challenges of climate disruption, economic pressure, and rising operational costs, the strategic importance of field days has never been clearer. They serve as a critical bridge between producers and the broader agri-supply chain, and a trusted space where innovation meets community.
Under the ongoing leadership of Chairman Bruce Wright and the Board, AAFDA is committed to national advocacy that ensures these events remain supported and sustainable. The Association continues to work closely with state and federal governments to champion the value of field days as cornerstones of rural enterprise, collaboration, and innovation.
Bruce Wright continues to lead with a clear vision: to connect the agricultural industry, drive innovation, and amplify the social and economic contribution of field days to Australia and New Zealand’s regional heartlands
